I'm just writing this on my impressions of the movie, since I haven't read Return of the King yet.

The new radio ad for New Jersey's supposedly reformed E-ZPass system kills me every time, because it so sounds a bit like Gollum is a member of the carpool group.

Finished reading The Two Towers today, and, wow, is the movie different. I like the Ents, Faramir, and the Rohan king better in the book, but for entertainment value the movie strikes me as being better. (Though I hated Gimli's role as humiliation object.) Tolkein is too dry and slow for me, his characters declaim too much, and it annoys the hell ( Read more... )

I just finished Coraline by Neil Gaiman and found it disappointing, though it may be that some of my disappointment comes from how it flirted with something I would have found far more interesting, then dropped it ( Read more... )
